- I have a Microcom DeskPorte 28.8S which is initialized as follows:
-
- AT&FM1L3W1&K3&C1&D2 S7=60 S11=50 S25=0 S36=4 S38=0 S95=47
-
- It just sits there and acts lame, with no change of states on the RS-232
- lines and no change of lights on the front, when I remove the phone line,
- or the phone call is lost. After about 36 seconds it finally discovers
- the loss of carrier and drops the RS-232 signals.
-
- S7 is "wait for carrier after dial" but this appears to be only how long
- to expect a carrier to arrive. Also, it is set to 60 seconds so that does
- not appear to be the value being used.
-
- S10 is "delay for hang up after carrier loss" which I would think is the
- setting applicable here. The Microcom DeskPorte 28.8S documentation says
- the unit is tenths of a second and the default is the value 60 for a time
- period of 6 seconds. But this is not what is happening.
-
- S38 applies to hangup from the H command, so I have not set that.
-
- Does anyone know the secret to Microcom modems? Do they have buggy
- microcode, or undocumented registers and annoying defaults?
